Best of Australian photography showcased in AIPP national travelling exhibition

The best of Australian photography is showcased in a free national
travelling exhibition by the Australian Institute of Professional
Photography (AIPP). The exhibition, comprising of winning images from
Australia’s most coveted photography awards, the Canon AIPP Australian
Professional Photography Awards (or ‘APPAs’), launched at The Atrium in
Melbourne’s Federation Square on 12 October.
The exhibition,
featuring over one hundred images by the nation’s best professional
photographers, will remain on display in Melbourne until Saturday 25th
October before it continues on its way around the country until June
2010. A wide variety of images make up the exhibition including
landscape, portrait, wedding, press, science, nature and environmental,
commercial and documentary photography.
655 professional
photographers from around Australia entered 2,459 prints vying for the
highly coveted and esteemed title of Canon AIPP Australian Professional
Photographer of the Year which, in June 2009, was awarded to Queensland
based photographer Charmaine Heyer. More than fifty of Australia’s
finest photographers spent three days determining the winner and more
than 150 volunteers from around the country made the highly involved
judging process happen.
Travelling Exhibition Confirmed Dates: • Melbourne, Victoria, The Atrium, Federation Square, until 25 October 2009 and • Sydney, NSW, Chifley Plaza, 2-20 November 2009 Other
locations will include Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Launceston,
Townsville, the Whitsundays and Toowoomba with more locations and dates
to be announced shortly.
